Engineering faculty students participated in International Exchange Camp in Sichuan University, China.
Students from Faculty of Engineering participated in “2017 Summer International Exchange Camp” in Sichuan University, China. This camp, which was launched by Sichuan University aiming for cultivating global human resources, provides various programs of specific themes to both domestic and international students. 13 students from Department of Computer Science and Technologies and 4 students from Department of Mechatronics joined the program named “Sparks & Sprout” during July 2nd to July 12th, which is the one of these camp programs organized by College of Computer Science, Sichuan University.
The program involves various activities such as computer science intensive course lectured by the leading-edge researcher, tour to a software-developing company, research project presentations, design workshop, and also Chinese cultural and historical learning experiences. The workshop is organized by two-faculty members of University of Yamanashi, Professor Go and Associate professor Kinoshita from engineering faculty. In this workshop, students from both universities are mixed into teams to seek daily problems and design information technology for solving these problems collaboratively.
It is a part of our mid-term plan to provide the students the opportunities to work with international researchers and students by developing global partnership. Participating in this camp have strengthened the partnership with Sichuan University and provided the students valuable experiences of cultural exchange and international team work.
During this camp, Professor Go and Associate Professor Kinoshita also visited the alumni of University of Yamanashi, Professor Lin’s lab from Faculty of Software Engineering. They exchanged their research ideas on human-computer interaction, affective computing, and the application of advanced machine learning technology.
