Participation in Workshop Toward Research Collaboration with Pabna University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh

?On March 8, 2025, Vice President Masanori Hanawa (Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) and Prof. Hiromitsu Nishizaki, Director of the Center for Promotion of Internationalization (Department of Mechatronics) from our university visited Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) in Bangladesh to participate in a workshop exploring potential research collaboration between the two universities.
?During the workshop, they exchanged views on potential collaboration in technical fields with PUST representatives including Vice-Chancellor (VC) S. M. Abdul-Awal, Deputy VC Md Nazrul Islam, Professor Md Shamim Ahsan, and other faculty members.
?President Abdul-Awal stated, “Japan is a true friend of Bangladesh, and we wish to strengthen our cooperative relationship in the fields of engineering and technology.” He also mentioned the possibility of new research areas through the integration of agriculture and AI technology, considering the region’s strong agricultural characteristics.
?Vice President Hanawa and Prof. Nishizaki from our university introduced the University of Yamanashi and presented their respective research, expressing their enthusiasm: “Through cooperation between our universities, we aim to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences in various fields.”
?The workshop also featured a presentation by Prof. Dr. Rahidul Islam from PUST’s Department of Geography and Environment on education, economy, culture, and environment in Bangladesh and Japan, as well as a screening of a video introducing PUST.
?This visit is expected to lead to concrete developments in research cooperation between the two universities and advance future academic exchange. The University of Yamanashi will continue to actively promote international academic exchange and strive to build a robust international education and research network that contributes to solving global challenges.
